For Christmas this year, my family and I, went to Soldotna, Alaska to visit some of my siblings. In the first couple days, I saw
Gray Jay and
Black-billed Magpie. In addition, I saw many (17 or so) Moose. Almost a week into the trip we all went to Seward, which was about a 2 hour drive away. There, I saw,
Marbled Murrelet,
Pelagic Cormorant,
Harlequin Duck, and
Barrow's Goldeneye. The next trip we went to Homer.
Northwestern Crows were everywhere. I also saw a
Rock Sandpiper and
Gray-crowned Rosy Finches. I did not have a scope for both visits, so I could not identify distant cormorants or loons. Although I tried to do a lot of birding, the trip was to visit with family, so my list for the trip was unfortunately only 29 species.
